This was yet another successful social event organised by Karen Henshaw. In keeping with the LibDems 'green credentials' it was held at Dahlia's Kitchen based at The Garden Place on Cropper Road.

Guest speaker was Stockport Councillor Helen Foster Grime, prospective European Parliamentary Candidate for the North West. Her speech was very much about the forthcoming Euro elections in June and building support for the Liberal Democrat Campaign she is sharing with the North West's current MEP Chris Davies.

She pointed out Liberal Democrat successes in the European Parliament and reminded everyone about how the Liberal Democrats were campaigning strongly to:-

· stop the waste of money through holding meetings in both Strasbourg and Brussels

· eradicate the abuse of the expenses system by politicians in other parties

Helen congratulated Bob Fielding and his campaign team on their resounding win in the Fairhaven by-election last month.

In giving the vote of thanks to Helen, Professor Bill Winlow (prospective parliamentary candidate for Fylde), praised Helen as a politician whose has held a high level job in the real world outside politics and is also a full-time mum to her three children. " Helen would make an excellent MEP", he added.

The Dinner attracted Liberal Democrats and their supporters from every constituency party in the Fylde with a notably large group from the Preston area.

The staff at Dahlia's Kitchen are to be congratulated on providing us all with a dazzling and very tasty array of menu choices. The 'home-made' chocolates were a delight.
