A busy August

August is usually seen as a dead month for news. Not any more. For the full picture on the following issues please visit Howard Henshaw's blog & Tony Ford's blog via the links on this page.

The controversy over North Beach car park has led to a public meeting tomorrow night [19th August] at the United Reform Church Hall, St George's Rd at 7p.m. Our Liberal Democrat County & Borough Councillors are still pressing for action at the junction of St. Leonard's Rd and St David's Rd where there was yet another accident last week. Various housing developments at Queensway; Westgate Rd.; the former Fylde Council training site on St. David's Rd.; and Blackpool Councils plans for Marton Moss are keeping our Councillors busy. The Blackpool plans have mired the Blackpool South Conservative Association in controversy ahead of a Council By-election in Stanley Ward on the 20th.

On the good news front, organisers of the Shepherd Rd. Allotments Open Day were very pleased so many people attended the event. County Councillor and Fylde Liberal Democrat parliamentary candidate for Fylde, Bill Winlow, said "I was very impressed by the produce on display and also excellent organisation of the allotment, which is very large. All those attending were very friendly and out to enjoy themselves despite the wet start to the day. My wife and I learned a lot of new tricks that we can put to use on our own allotment."
