By far the biggest issue concerning our community now is, of course, COVID-19.
As this dreadful pandemic continues to sweep across the UK, many people have tragically lost their lives, been extremely ill, lost loved ones, or not been there when their loved ones have needed them. Many have also had to suffer alone at this critical time, causing a huge amount of personal stress and, quite understandably, many are now feeling very, very low.
As your local Lib Dems, we have taken the decision to halt all campaigning during Lockdown, and are focusing all of our efforts on ringing round people (who have previously given us permission to ring them) just to check whether they are OK. Perhaps they need assistance with shopping ? Or need access to a chemist ? Or would just like to have a chat ?
There are just so many in our community who are on their own at the moment, and to whom this Lockdown has been, and is continuing to be, a truly dreadful experience of isolation from friends and family alike, and so a phone call just to say Hi, can sometimes be a lifeline, even if they are not seemingly at risk.
