Cllr. Joanne Gardner is asking St Annes residents and businesses to contact Lancashire County Council with regards to the proposal to introduce parking charges between Fairhaven Lake and Todmorden Road, with charges varying from £1.90 to £5.50 (you can find more information, and how to object, here: Lancashire County Council)
"As your Liberal Democrat Town Councillor for Kilnhouse Ward St Annes, I am against these proposed charges and feel it is the wrong solution to the problem."
"The real problem is the overnight parking of non-resident motorhomes, and I feel that a solution needs to be found to this issue in a way that doesn't penalise residents, who already pay Council tax to live by the sea, and businesses, who already pay business rates to have a business in our town. Let’s face it 2020 has been a very difficult year already"
"Although I can see some benefit in charging non-residents for parking on the promenade, especially if this revenue were to be suitably transferred back to St Annes by LCC for the benefit of our town, this current proposal is completely unacceptable"
If you agree with Joanne, and wish to voice your concerns to LCC over the introduction of these new parking charges, then any representations or objections (specifying the grounds on which they are made) relating to the proposal must be made in writing and be sent to The Director of Corporate Services, Lancashire County Council, PO Box 78, County Hall, Preston PR1 8XJ or by e-mail to [email protected] quoting Ref: LSG4/894.10877/AFR before the 19th November.
